DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES RELEASES REVIEW OF CAYLEE ANTHONY'S DEATH

“It is the conclusion of the Department of Children and Families that Casey Anthony failed to protect her child from harm either through her actions or lack of actions, which tragically resulted in the child’s untimely death."

The Department of Children and Families has just released a review of the death of Caylee Marie Anthony. READ REVIEW BELOW

The report will offer no details on how Caylee died. However, it does give DCF's opinion of whether or not Caylee's mother Casey was neglectful in her daughter's death.

The report recounts the major milestones from when Caylee Anthony was reported missing to when her remains were formally identified. It also includes details on the condition of Caylee's remains from the autopsy report, and also information from the Orange County Sheriff's Office on their investigation.

A child protective investigator interviewed Casey and Cindy Anthony in August 2008, where Casey insisted that the sheriff's office was more interested in prosecuting Casey than finding Caylee. After Casey was arrested again, the CPI tried several times to interview her, but she would not talk to them, and requests through Jose Baez's office were declined.

DCF concluded that Casey Anthony's actions "threatened harm" toward Caylee, were a "failure to protect" the child, and contributed to her death.

This latest report from DCF is the agency's comprehensive review of the case. It will yield no new charges against Casey, but it will be placed in her permanent record.
