A Look Back: Cindy Anthony's Email Hacked

Cindy Anthony says someone hacked into her email and sent out messages and documents containing sensitive information about the case. WFTV reporter Kathi Belich received four of the emails herself, but when she realized something didn't seem right about them she forwarded the emails to the FBI.

Now, the FBI is investigating.

The Anthonys have used their home computer to email their spokesman, their private investigators and others about the case, but they say someone accessed their account when they weren't even home during the holiday weekend.

Cindy Anthony hammered the point home earlier this year that people were going too far and she was trying to protect her home turf. But over the Thanksgiving weekend, she says someone broke through the boundaries in a more underhanded way, by somehow getting into her Yahoo email account, gaining access to her messages and even confidential documents pertaining to her daughter Casey's defense and sending them out posing as Cindy.

Kathi Belch received four of them on Friday. One of the emails involved the Caylee hairbrush story Eyewitness News broke last week. It seemed odd that Cindy would send Kathi such apparently personal and sensitive information.

Kathi text messaged Cindy right away and forwarded the emails to the FBI, which is already investigating an allegation that Cindy gave investigators the wrong hairbrush when they were trying to get a DNA sample for Caylee.

Cindy told Kathi she had not sent any emails and Monday said she had been locked out of her account over the weekend and said Yahoo found someone in Ocala who might have gotten in.

"It would be a connection between Ocala and Orlando or several protesters that we did run background checks on throughout that period. As to me saying it would be attributed to them, not what I'm saying, but possibly an Ocala to Orlando," said Dominic Casey, Anthonys' private investigator.

The FBI asked Eyewitness News not to reveal the details of emails because of their investigation. They include exchanges between Cindy Anthony and her spokesman, her private investigator, and even the PR person for Kid Finders, angry with Eyewitness News after exposing their founder has a criminal background.

"This is an extreme invasion of privacy of delicate, sensitive information," Dominic Casey said.


CASEY, CAYLEE #2 SEARCHED NEWS STORY

It's a sign of just how much the story of Casey and Caylee Anthony has captured the country's attention.

On Monday, Yahoo.com released its list of the top news stories searched on its site in 2008 and Caylee and Casey Anthony was the second most popular news search.

Yahoo said the most searched news stories in order were on hurricanes, Caylee and Casey Anthony, election 2008, Pakistan, pregnant man, China, Iraq, Shelley Malil, Patrick Swayze and Afghanistan.


CASEY EATS THANKSGIVING DINNER IN JAIL

Channel 9 learned Casey's father, George Anthony, spent part of his Thanksgiving driving by himself around downtown Orlando and Winter Park towing his "Where is Caylee billboard." Even after new evidence was released to support the theory Casey killed her daughter Caylee, George has continued searching for a live Caylee.

Meanwhile, Casey Anthony spent Thanksgiving alone in the Orange County Jail. Officials said the Anthony family did not visit Casey Thursday nor did she request any visitors or phone calls for the holiday.

Instead, she dined with other prisoners on turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, bread and butter. For dessert, Casey had a slice of pumpkin spice cake.


FAMILY FEUDS OVER WHETHER CAYLEE IS DEAD

Eyewitness News has obtained new documents from prosecutors that show Casey's own relatives believe she killed her daughter. In the 700 pages of evidence there were emails that started a family feud between Cindy Anthony and her brother.

Cindy's brother said he's frustrated that she believes Casey. In early August reporters asked Cindy Anthony a lot of tough questions about Casey's lies and Eyewitness News has learned Cindy's own brother was asking those same questions.

However, his inquiries ended in a family feud. In an email exchanged in August, Cindy's brother Rick Plesea, who she rarely talked to, told her his theory: "Caylee drowned in the pool, and Casey put Caylee's body in the trunk of her car." and "That is why the dogs hit on the trunk." From there the exchange deteriorated to insults.

Cindy wrote: "The next time you say Caylee is dead I will personally come there and kick your sorry a** all the way to hell."

Her brother fired back: "Your granddaughter is dead. There, I said it. Casey has killed her someway either by accident or on purpose."

"You have both lost your minds," Plesea writes to Cindy and George.

He also said Casey Anthony attended his wedding seven months pregnant with Caylee and when Rick asked Cindy about it she said Casey told her she wasn't pregnant then proceeded to say, "She would have to have sex to be pregnant."

Rick Plesea forwarded all of his emails to detectives.


CASEY DOCUMENTS TALK OF CHLOROFORM, NECK-BREAKING

Nearly 700 pages of evidence released in the Casey Anthony case contain disturbing internet searches, a accusation of a frame-up and allegations of potential incest in the Anthony family.

The investigation has brought out accusations Casey had been making against those closest to her, namely that her father George has abused her, and that her brother Lee made inappropriate sexual advances toward her once when she was in junior high. The documents show Casey said her mother Cindy did not believe that to be true.

The newly released court documents show Casey Anthony searched for information on chloroform, types of shovels and neck-breaking on her computer in the time before her young daughter Caylee disappeared.

The documents reveal that Casey searched those items in March, at the same time she was also looking on missing children web sites. Casey reported her daughter missing in June. Casey claims she left Caylee with a babysitter but that person has never been found and Casey now stands charged with Caylee’s murder.


DOCUMENT DETAILS

Some of the information found on Casey’s computer also related to the chemicals peroxide, acetone and alcohol, which can be used to make chloroform.

Traces of chloroform were found in the trunk of Casey’s car, along with DNA evidence that suggests the dead body of Caylee had also been in there.

Investigators say they found that Casey’s mother Cindy was not at home when the searches were done. They say she was at work but that her father, George, was not employed at the time.

Casey’s ex-fiance’, Jesse Grund, told investigators he has heard that Casey has been cooking up a story to frame him for Caylee's murder, even though she insists Caylee is alive. Grund claims Casey tried to convince her lawyer, with her mother's help, that Grund killed Caylee because of his "obsession" with her and planted evidence in the back of her (Casey’s) car.

The documents also show there was no rotting pizza in the trunk of Casey’s car. Cindy Anthony has long claimed a horrible smell that detectives have described as the smell of death, was due to a rotting pizza. But the documents show there was nothing but an empty pizza box in a bag in the trunk.

Investigators say when George opened the car trunk at a towing company, with a towing company employee next to him, flies flew out of the trunk. The pair tossed the trash bag that was in the trunk into the dumpster. Later, when investigators went back to it and opened it, they found flies, maggots, and the empty pizza box.

The new records also show that Casey told her parents during a jail visit that her message to "Zenaida," the mysterious nanny, was "she (Zenaida) needs to return Caylee" and "I forgive her.”

Casey hinted that she told Cindy long ago that she might have given someone a key to their house but didn’t say who.

Casey also gave a description of Zenaida: she’s 5-feet, 7-inches tall, has curly brown hair that had been straightened, weighs 140 pounds, and has brown eyes, and a lot of money.

Also released Wednesday, investigators say Casey's slacks, which her mother removed from the car and washed because they reeked of the same odor inside the car, were apparently the same slacks Casey was wearing on the day Caylee disappeared and is believed to have been murdered. Investigators did not ask for those slacks early on because they had already been laundered at least once.

Investigators also say the documents indicate that Casey might have been considering coming clean a couple of times. On the day she was indicted for murder she actually called her attorney from the sheriff's headquarters and hinted she might help investigators find Caylee. But once she talked to him she changed her mind. In August, she was about to meet with her father at the jail but once again it appears her attorney talked her out of it.


FAMILY TENSION

The released documents show Grund also told investigators Cindy wanted Caylee to call her "Mommy" in front of Casey.

Casey's parents' financial problems almost shattered their marriage but ended up saving it because Cindy couldn't afford divorce. The investigation showed Cindy supported George for years. He lost thousands of dollars in a U.K. lottery scam.

The documents also show the following:

Cindy told her mother that Caylee was her life and her mother says if not for Caylee, Cindy might have harmed herself.

Just before Caylee disappeared, Cindy was about to throw Casey out of the house and try to get custody of Caylee. She caught Casey lying. At one point, Cindy talked about choking Casey, presumably out of frustration.

Friends said Casey was "annoyingly giddy" two weeks after investigators believe Casey murdered Caylee because her boyfriend, Tony Lazzaro was returning to Orlando after a trip home to New York for the Fourth of July weekend. Lazzaro told investigators that Caylee was “great” but he did remember telling Casey that he wanted to have sons, because his little sisters taught him how tough it is to raise girls.

Investigators also found Casey's doodlings, writing her name as Lazzaro's wife, with hearts in the script.

Summary:

A transcript was released of an interview between investigators and Charles Crittenden at Gentiva Healthcare, where Cindy Anthony was formerly employed. Crittenden had conversations with Cindy Anthony about her relationship with Casey. Crittenden said he knew nothing of any problems between Casey Anthony and her mother, and Cindy Anthony had made no complaints about how her daughter was raising Caylee. Crittenden said Cindy Anthony told him that Casey Anthony had worked for Kodak at Universal Orlando, and she had also worked for Sports Authority for a short time.


Crittenden on Casey Anthony: Crittenden said Casey Anthony did visit her mother at Gentiva. He told investigators that he had seen Casey Anthony in a uniform but wasn't sure her name tag indicated where she was employed. At times, Crittenden said Casey Anthony would drop off Caylee there, and the toddler would leave with her grandmother.


Crittenden on Caylee Disappearance: Crittenden said another employee told him of an argument on Father's Day near the time when Caylee disappeared. He said Cindy Anthony was unable to reach Casey Anthony on the phone very often but had shared text messages with Casey. Crittenden said when Cindy Anthony would ask to speak to Caylee, Casey would always make an excuse, such as Caylee was sleeping or with the babysitter or not available. Crittenden said Cindy Anthony knew it didn't seem right but didn't really want to get involved.

SUMMARY:

Bennett on Cindy Anthony, Casey: A transcript was also released of an interview between investigators and Debbie Bennett at Gentiva Home Health, where Cindy Anthony works. Bennett said it was clear to her and other employees that Casey was trying to hide her pregnancy. Bennett talked about Caylee's father, saying orginally it was said to be Jesse Grund, and he had proposed to Casey shortly after Caylee's birth, as well as been there for her birth. Bennett said Grund then was suddenly out of the picture and the engagement was broken. Bennett said that she and other employees spoke to Cindy the day Casey's car was found and Cindy mentioned the "dead body" smell. Bennett said that she urged Cindy to call police, but Cindy insisited that she wanted to "give Casey a chance to explain herself." Bennett also said that Cindy had told her that she thought someone was swimming in her pool when she wasn't home, and mentioned that Geroge noticed gas cans stolen from the shed near their home.

Cindy:  Someone said this morning that Caylee is dead, that she drown in the pool.  That's the new information out there.
Casey:  Surprise, Surprise.
Cindy:  It's very hard.

Cindy:  We need to have something to go on.
Casey:  Mom, I have nothing to go on.  I've been here a month Ive been here a month today.  Do you understand how i feel?  Do you understand how i feel about this?    I have nothing to go on.   I have to sit here and wait and wonder.  I wonder if there is something new.

George takes the phone and proceeds to tell Casey that she is in control and the boss.   Casey disagrees and then blows up on George and Cindy because they are not letting her speak. 

Casey:  Everything has been taken from me. I have nothing. I've been here a month.  What am I supposed to learn from that?

Casey quotes Bible scripture; "God says to love thy neighbor" and  "share what you have with others."

Casey and George talk about Casey's eating habits. Casey doesn't want to be started at all day so she eats and sleeps so the Corrections Officers won't "say anything to her".

Casey is "running low on steam" states her "eyes are red, but not from sleeping". Casey then begins to say she is sick with a cold, "she can feel it" but George cuts her off to hand the phone to Cindy. Casey rolls her eyes.

Casey: Stuff being said is being completely, completely fabricated and twisted. I'm not going to give the media anything when i get out of here--sucks for them because I have nothing to say. All I want is my kid back and to be with my family. That's all I want. That's all I'm asking. I'm not going to ask the media. I will do whatever the hell I have to to get my family back together. That's it. That's all I want to do.
Cindy: Do you still think she is okay?
Casey: I know in my heart Mom. I know in my gut shes alright. I can feel it everyday. That gets stronger everyday. And I still know shes coming home i can still feel that shes coming home.
Cindy: What can I say on air to Zanny? What do you want me to tell her to make her bring her back?
Casey: Just tell her we forgive her.

Casey Anthony Jury Selection Day 6

Jury selection is in the Casey Anthony trial resumed Saturday afternoon. So far, the court excused 10 potential jurors. Two jurors were retained.

The latest juror was excused for financial hardship. Another juror was excused because she believed Casey Anthony was guilty because she was uncooperative with the investigation. Another juror was excused because he violated the order about posting on Facebook.

Judge Perry is looking for the magic number of 15 (12 jurors and three alternates).

In all, 25 jurors have been questioned in three days of jury selection. Of those, 10 have been retained. About 21 potential jurors were called back today.

Judge Perry says the court will work until about 5 p.m. local time today.
 He wants a full jury seated by today so that the trial can start on Tuesday.

It would have to have something to do with remembering to be good… I’m coming out of this thing too easy. So I told my uncle we’d try to be there by 9. He goes to work at like 4am… so nine was late for what he started with. I do however have to get to my house at some point either late tonight or tomorrow morning to get my license plate and check book. I should be out of work hopefully by 11:30. Whatever is easiest for you. If we do it in the morning we should probably try to get out of here by like 6:30ish at the latest. But we should totally miss rush hour in both towns and just be on 95 during that part. Gimme a call!

followed by an attempt to reach 1-954-478-9899 at 17:20:53, nearly an hour later. This is the first of the two times I see this number. It is a cell serviced by Omnipoint Miami E License, Llc, Ft. Lauderdale, one of the places Casey said Zenaida had connections. I read somewhere that a couple of bloggers called LE to alert them to the Dora-Zenaida myspace and were told that the IP address used was from the Southern Florida area, the same general area as this cell phone. She didn’t get an answer so could it have been a disconnected phone? She does nothing else on the phone until 3 hours later when she sends TL a text. This number is called two other times. (Thanks to Damagdpets for pointing that out.)  The others were both on June 27, the day the car was abandoned. The times were 13:51:11, 6 sec. And 13:51:41, 96 sec. So, the phone isn’t disconnected. Either someone picks up but hangs up on her and she calls back, talking for a minute and a half or she gets a recording, hangs up then calls back and leaves a message.

There are a large number of hours without phone activity from the evening of the 16th through the 18th, very unusual.

 She was near Amscot with the 1st ping on the 17th. She was at or near TL’s at 11, back to the Amscot area at 14:18. She appears to be heading home and stays there until 16:05. There was a great deal of activity on both computers during this period so she could have been transferring photos and the video of Caylee onto the laptop.

When this facebook message comes in she is hitting a tower very close to Blanchard Park. The tower is between Anthony Rusciano, the ex cop, and Jesse Grund, and near the Hess gas station where Tony put gas in her tank, at 18:31. (See doc pg 2371)

Chris Stutz believes this is the same day that Casey visited him for a couple of hours in the afternoon, driving Tony’s Jeep. She was trying to call  TL 16:05 but he didn’t answer. She sent him a text at 20:38 which is the only other phone activity she had done since the attempted call to the Ft. Lauderdale number. If she actually visited him in the afternoon and not evening, I don’t see how it could have been 2 hours or longer because she hit the tower too far from him, near Blanchard Park, only an hour 15 min. after pinging near her home.
Since there were 3 hours with no pings from 5:23-8:23, I’d have to say this is the time period that she visited him. So why did they swap cars on this very important and unusual day? Why was she at or near the park before going to Chris Stutz’s house? That isn’t on the way. She went by his place then backtracked. Who was she calling with a Ft. Lauderdale cell, possibly while she was at the park? Why would TL go all the way over there to put gas in her car? Calling this number and being at the park would fit the 2nd story, that Caylee was taken away from her at the park. Could she have left her with someone on the 16th and was supposed to meet at the park to get her and this is where she tried to call her, finding the number had been disconnected? If that had happened though, Chris S is where she went to feel safe, not TL.

The neighbor, Brian Burner said it was either on the 17th or 18th  he saw Casey’s car backed in and she borrowed the shovel.

If it was the 17th, she would have had to trade for Tony’s car after leaving there, between 4:05 and 5:20, unless Brian Burner is mistaken. He said she had the shovel about an hour but on the 18th she was in the home area less than an hour so I’d say it had to be the 17th for the shovel. Her phone hit the tower very near Chris Stutz on the 18th so that may be the more likely day she visited there. But if so, she only stayed a very few minutes, then headed back toward TL’s.

From here forward there are no more that show on the phone records, indicating that she turned the alert feature off, while still having myspace and IM coming in. Why would she just shut off Facebook?

While there is a great deal of Myspace and IM activity, this is the extent of the Facebook entries.

FB friend 118, 122 and 159 are the only ones she replies to through her phone.
I notice many of the numbers are consecutive, ending 117, 118, 119 and 122-129.
But then there are a couple of large ones, 186 & 187.
If each friend is numbered, this would mean that she had 77 on her friends list, if they were numbered beginning with 110, or as many as 187.
Does anyone know how many were there before it went private?
I suspected FB friend 122 may be Tony.
This is where he said he first saw her and initiated contact.
But, if this is the case, if she only met Tony in May, would his number be that small?
Perhaps it is someone else but whoever this is, I noticed that communication from FB friend 122 quit on June 15.
I also notice during the time that Lexus is called, more FB alerts than would be expected are followed by a call to her mother or Lexus.
She only called Lexus for a short time after Caylee went missing and the calls were usually around 4pm.
Some have speculated that this is a mistake in the records and this is actually Gentiva but this isn’t the end of Cindy’s work day so it really doesn’t make sense Casey would call her around the same time each of those days.

Facebook comments have been selectively deleted. I would like to know the content of those comments and who they were from, especially 122. The comments that appear during times the alerts were coming to her phone, but aren’t shown on her phone record may be times that she was logged on to facebook on the computer, which might keep the phone alert from going out, not sure.

Between 6/6 and 6/24 it appears that comments were deleted from the following friends: 117, 118, 119, 122, 123(Amy 2), 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 186, 187.

A search for the 186 number brings up a recent thread saying the text was from Flynn Lives: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30508

I also found it at the Walgreen page so it might be a code for mass mailing.

On a facebook forum where people were asking how to shut off these phone alerts, a couple said they were receiving them with increasing consecutive numbers, one case being spam from Indonesia, but I know that all can’t work that way because I see that Amy’s number ends in 123 each time she commented.
The other thing that might be happening is that someone harassing her might create new accounts each time she blocks and deletes them. But, why did she delete Amy’s comments?

I have suspected that if a person took Caylee, they may have used Myspace, FB or IM to communicate with her.
Both MS and IM show up a great deal and sometimes show an interesting pattern or timing.

I believe the Zenaida Myspace with the Dora pic was created shortly after 11:29am. If someone else took Caylee and created this Dora myspace they would use it to intimidate and bully Casey. If that were the case they would have to let her know it exists. Here is where I see that possibility.

Now, keep in mind that all the comments during the time Caylee was missing  in fact, the whole time she was dating Lazarro, have been deleted. So, we have no way of seeing what the profile and image comments were unless LE were to subpoena those files. The profile comment could easily have been a link to this new space and the image comment may have been left on an image of Caylee. Surely LE would consider any deleted comments and her private messages important evidence. There were a lot of myspace activity alerts coming in to her phone during the whole time the records cover.

CASEY ANTHONY FALLS ON FACE ENTERING COURT -- WAIVES RIGHT TO APPEAR

Casey Anthony was injured and needed medical treatment during the transport process today.  Casey's leg shackles were caught in the elevator shaft, causing Casey to fall forward, hitting her face on the floor outside the elevator.

Reports reveal that the fall resulted in a chipped tooth for Casey, as well as contusions and scrapes on her face, knees, hands and arm.  Casey received immediate medical attention and had her chipped tooth repaired--all provided by Orange County. 

Casey did was not present at her court hearing as she waived her right to appear. Casey opted for medical treatment.
