Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said on Tuesday there have been discussions with prosecutors about filing perjury charges against Casey's mother, Cindy Anthony, for her testimony during the murder trial, and a decision could come soon.
A jury found 25-year-old Casey not guilty of murder in her daughter's death. She was found guilty on four charges of lying to law enforcement officers and is to be released from the Orange County Jail on Sunday, July 17.
Orange County detective, Yuri Melich, said during the press conference that Casey wouldn't tell him the truth.
The detectives from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, who worked many long, hard hours searching for Caylee Anthony for six months after Casey now admits she was dead, shared their thoughts and feelings with reporters at the sheriff's headquarters.
Seven case investigators who searched for Caylee and processed the evidence against Casey, including the crime scene investigators, cadaver dog handler and the computer crimes expert, answered WFTV's questions about the investigation.
Melich, who was the lead investigator in the murder case, was among the sheriff's officers who were finally able to tell their stories now that the case is closed.
"She never said it was an accident," Melich said. "She wouldn't tell us the truth."
Melich and Sgt. John Allen were the ones who took Casey to Universal Studios to see how far she'd take her lies about what happened to Caylee. They questioned her extensively, only to have her dig in her heels and cling to her lies.Sgt. Eric Edwards, who questioned Casey the day she was indicted for first-degree murder, also answered reporters' questions.
Among those who spoke were the crime scene investigators who processed Casey's car- Senior CSI Gerardo Bloise; the officers at the scene where Caylee's remains were found and at the Anthonys' home - including CSI photographer, Jennifer Welch.
The computer crimes detective, - Sandra Osborne - who traced the searches for chloroform, neck-breaking and other topics related to death and injury, which investigators say were done by Casey as she planned how to kill her daughter Caylee three months before she died, also spoke at the conference.
